Qualcomm Snapdragon 210, a new chip for low-end smartphones
Qualcomm officially introduces a new addition to its iconic series of chips for Smartphones. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 210, aimed at the low end, it offers 3G / 4G LTE, quad-core CPU and Adreno 304 GPU.
The different variants of the Snapdragon 800 color the sheets of a large part of the current top of the line and establish without doubt one of the highest standards in hardware configurations used in the latest mobile devices, both smartphones tablets.
Qualcomm, however, does not forget at all the kind of devices that belong to the most price ranges, categories, which represent an important source of revenue for both the brand more famous than for smaller producers. The mobile market and its user base require the presence of low-end handsets increasingly powerful and less expensive in proportion to those who are top of the range.
The new chip of American society seems to respond to these needs: the Snapdragon 210 will lead to tablets to smartphones and entry-level of quality in all respect.
The SoC offers a secure 4G LTE-Advanced Cat 4, and LTE Broadcast configuration LTE Dual SIM / Dual Standby and integrate two new transmitters WTR4905 WTR2955 and 28nm for the support of LTE connectivity and LTE-A
At the heart of its architecture is a quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 with a clock speed of 1.1 GHz, accompanied by an Adreno 304 GPU with support for display with 720p quality.
The chip will also ensure the ability to play full HD content at 1080p with hardware HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) and allow the use of cameras with sensors up to 8-megapixel camera with advanced features such as Zero Shutter Lag, HDR, auto-focus and auto -exposure. With regard to energy efficiency technology Quick Charge 2.0 will bring faster recharge times by 75% compared to models without such a system.
The Snapdragon 210 is coming soon also on the first tablet reference design with LTE next to the models equipped with Snapdragon 410 and the manufacturer expects to see the first low-cost smartphones equipped with this chip in the first half of 2015.
