Lenovo Yoga 3, Microsoft uses it in the war against the MacBook Air
Microsoft offers the Lenovo Yoga 3 as an alternative to the Apple Macbook Air. But it is a sensible comparison? The two products are not even in the same price range and the hybrid Lenovo is a monster of power and compactness just come on the market.
For years now there is a war between Microsoft and Apple fought to the sound of advertising – and a secondary war, which has created an entire category called Ultrabook and that was unleashed by the MacBook Air and the attempts of the competition (universally equipped with Windows) to overcome the first super compact laptop.
Microsoft has no problem to recruit allies, even if it comes to terms of non-belligerence rather than brotherhoods – to fight these conflicts of marketing, and the result is pretty funny commercials like that spread from a few hours from Redmond, who sees the Lenovo Yoga 3 intent on teasing the historic rival Apple.
Fighting is not gory, is danced. And it must be said that the Ultrabook Lenovo has several of its winning features. The PC Lenovo is thin, only 13 mm, which are exactly 4 less than the MacBook Air. There is also a touchscreen and a very flexible design that features the latest generation of Ultrabook “hybrid” and sees the Air, maybe were a little ‘too anchored to the tradition created by Jobs did not want to confuse PC and tablet.
The blow to the portfolio, however, is different, and what really little feature, not a favorable comparison to the PC maker in China. The Lenovo Yoga 3 is a very high-end machine, and it costs less than € 1,600.

The new Lenovo Yoga convertible 3 is a computer, a high-tech hybrid between a laptop and a tablet. Featuring an innovative technology rather for what concerns the link between the display and main body, the Yoga Pro 3 is held together by a complex structure of 800 pieces of steel that reproduce the ideas of the classic metal watch strap – an idea rather Intelligent, well-tested and very robust.
This ultrabook proves to be an extremely nice, very expensive, that is going to place with ease at the top of the high-end. The cost, which grazes € 1600 is a figure that few are willing to pay for a PC, no matter how compact, fast and robust.
Microsoft, just as Apple does not seem to hide to have few certainties about the future of the market, that does not seem to focus either on the PC or tablet. But Redmond seems to point straight towards the premium segment, a market that Apple knows and surfs really well for years now.
And in the same segment, although very few feet below the Yoga 3, there is the Surface Pro 3 that Microsoft sells itself with some success.
