How to Learn Basic Video Game Tips and Tricks
These days it seems that being good at video games is just as important as being able to read in some circles – sometimes even more important. Indeed, gaming has become so ubiquitous that even the public school system is investing in programs that teach the curriculum via video game. So what if you weren’t born with a silver controller in your hands? What do you do when you’ve got a lot of catching up to do, and you don’t even know where to start or how to ask for help? Well the answer is that you have to start with the basics, and apply a little bit of basic logic. If you can do that, you can learn to play any video game, and soon enough you will proudly be calling yourself a gamer too. Here are a few tips on how to learn basic video game tips and tricks.
- Learn the basic functions. Every video game is going to have a few basic functions that will be assigned to different buttons on the controller. Things like running, jumping, selecting tools/weapons, shooting, launching, etc. When you read any description of a video game you will start to get an idea of what kinds of functions you will need to learn. Most programmers try to be as intuitive as possible with the buttons they choose for each of these functions, so you don’t need to over think it. Just sit there and play with your avatar for a few minutes practicing and watching what happens when you push each button. Eventually, you will start to develop some dexterity with the controller.
- Use online forums. Once you’ve played around with using the controller on a few games you will start to notice a lot of similarity from game to game. You will start to notice a lot of gaming jargon being added to your lexicon, and you will be ready to ask some questions online. The great thing about online forums is that no matter what question you have, it’s probably already been asked at least once – and for every time it’s asked, about 50 people will answer. Those answers are then rated and the ones that are the most helpful are pushed to the top. People love being helpful online, so just start asking questions and you will get answers pretty quickly.
